swirl humpback whale
June 17, 2026

i wanted to do a project of how i do with the colorful pattered animals, but to try something a tad bigger than usual.
i asked friends if i rather do a seal or whale. they said whale. alright orca or humpback, they said humpback.
so. humpback it shall be.

WIPs

w1. sheet bag w2. bulk form w3. tile fins

not too much for the wips section due to being very fugrual on photo storage. so theres two sheets stitched up together instead of usual one. didnt put any plants or rocks inside- smelly or otherwise. maybe next time i can make a project that is just Large. ridiculously so.
anyway stabbing raw wool on to bulk out the shape to make the whale look like a whale. then the fins were wetted out and folded over then had edges refined.

w4. skin tile w5. tail skin

making some skin tiles and then putting the skin on. i tried having the spots be directly on and have it meld together in the wetting but i guess it had something to do with width and curving of the fibers not agreeing to stay together so i had to then put the spots on manually.

w6. back blank w7. belly blank

now that the body is covered up in a layer of skin, now the real fun begins of decorating up with the small details.

w8. mouth line w9. done sit

yeahg,

w10. stab counter

stab counter- 52. and this is actually a low number fo this size and scale. i WANTED to get my fingers all fucked up to then show people what it takes to do this shit. but alas...
