haunted by visions
of a
horse.
But not just any horse
one that i had to REALLY flex my skills. to be daring. be daunting.
to be in a pose that I had to be extra calulative in, to have limited support while standing
and i still wanted to have fun with the animal, which is why i went for blue skin with funky star like patterns.
like SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE I could have just use natural fur colors.. i just didnt wanna.
And besides, this could merely be practice
for even MORE daring daunting projects!
...
..............
okay and before anyone asks, I was not aware of Blue Mustang (aka- Blucifer), the giant horse statue at denver airport, which had killed its creator, Luis Jiménez, by a piece falling off and crushing him.
just pure coincidence of having made a standing cerulean equine, which was told to me by someone by the time the first of front legs were fastened on.
.....
this blue bastard better not kill me either.
Starting out with classic craft sheet, cut at two thirds and sew it into a sort of shitty bag shape. stuff it out.
but I didnt stuff it TOOOO far, because the amount was good enough as is and the portion
that is still flabby can now be the neck. thought that the excess portion would be useful later on... not for here.
using raw wool that mom got a goddamn lot of from somewhere i havent bothered asking about
and thats what ive been using to pretty much sculpt everything out before the skin and extermities are put on.
making a sort of gourd shape of the head, then having it sit at the very tip top of the neck.
securing it with a scrap strip, cutting notches in to fit the curve.
so as the horse is to be in a standing pose on only two legs, the hind needed bones. pipe cleaners will do.
As for the front legs, they dont need bones. just all skin. the hooves took an hour to stick on...
it was at this point it was starting to hit me at the realization of how bullshit horse anatomy is.
wrapped the pipe cleaner legs with some wires, to provide extra rigid structure. dont want to come and find the legs bending under the body weight.
now to go for putting skin arouind the wires, which I gotta be careful to both stab deep enough to keep the fibers together,
but also not too deep to get stuck in between the wires and have the needle break off.
after all that, the size differences of front and back hoof was pissing me off. but i gotta move on for next meat.
okay... if youre to ask me what i was thinking of for the tail, I cant give a clear answer.
I was figuring out a way to make the tail the third contact point because theres no way those two legs can do it,
and so I made a big wide betta fish sorta fan shape because I was looking at how horse tails sometimes have the hair
spread out in motion... shrugs.
the big part underneath I had braided a few pipe cleaners together to create the bottom of the tail sturdy and heavy,
which will be what gives that structual support for blue bastard to stand on.
At the stage I should prepare up some skin tiles... and stab the tail in place before I go about attachinging said skin.
Well. the tail does allow for standing. but the betta fish fan shape was pissing me off, so I wrapped a rubber band and left it like that for overnight. an idea had come for how I could improve upon it...
Where if I get the tail to fold in on itself, get some fingerlings going, itll just look better if it looks like a branch rather than a tail.
*makes vague hand gestures*... or whatever.
make skin. put skin on.
now for the mane. but fore i put mane on i gotta put neck skin on but before i put neck on, i gotta cover the head..
putting the mane on and shaping it out was my favorite part of this whole bastard.
the hoof sizes were still pissing me off. so I bit into it and added wool to give them that couple millimeters width that no one but me would goddamn notice or care about.
finally... getting at the end stages...
and now the blue bastard is complete!
With a total of 438 stabs
alright so the blue bastard here got only inside photos. do not trust enough to bring out.
dirt and moss can latch onto the fibers and well. shrugs. itll be a real bitch to pluck out and repair.
and besides, its a large body.
one of my more bigger and complex sunnsabitches I've done, can't fit in any ole pocket and carried around.
this horse doesnt deserve to go outside.
so the horse can easily reach the full length of a ruler, however the true measurement of height
is something unknown because I simply have not bothered in figuring that out, as the legs are bent.
which here I went and pulled a leg to strengthen it out, but it turned out to be a foolish idea because
it turns out theres a specific bending to keep the horse from slouching on one side and it look longer than expected
to put the legs back as before.
the wires inside the legs are to be rigid. dont screw around with it.
okay thats the end goodbye.
